In my 20 plus years working MLM’s, there are some truths and myths I have discovered along the way. Most of the preconceptions are because of people’s ignorance, meaning that they are not educated in the world of business, and then come to ridiculous assumptions. Inside, I talk about a big myth and the truth about this industry, to come to conclusion that I hope you would agree upon.
Probably the biggest myth is that MLM’s are all scams. Most people are raised to go to school, get a job, and then work until they are in their retirement years “enjoying” life. They are not of the mindset to believe that they can make serious money if they work hard for the next couple of years, and then enjoy the fruits of their labor for the rest of their lives. Their mind won’t let them believe that concept, so they are quick to call anything MLM, a scam.
They are quick to say that the industry is a pyramid scheme; all the while they are working 45 years of their lives in the corporate “pyramid” structure. Remember that the “legitimate” careers have a president on the top, then the vice presidents, all the way down to the part time hourly workers.
The term pyramid scheme came from the businesses that did not offer a product or service to the members, and therefore was not legit, but it didn’t have a thing to do with the structure itself – and that’s where people get confused. Yes, if a MLM does not offer a product or service to purchase, then it really isn’t a business in the first place, and therefore is a scam. The FTC is quick to shutdown these illegitimate businesses and some common sense will tell you to stay far away from them as well.
The truth of the matter is that MLM is very hard to succeed with the statistics proving that fact. 95% fail in this industry, but that doesn’t make it a scam. It just means that the chances for success are very rare – and that is the plain truth.
Many people understand the concept of having to build teams with some key players, and then having duplication take its course. After all, the president of a large company cannot do all the work of his or her 5000 employees, so each one does their part. The problem with the work at home industry is that not everyone does their part.
If you knew the truth of this industry, which is that the hardest part of it is recruiting, then your focus shouldn’t be on whether an MLM is legit or not, but how are you going to recruit to build that massive team which leads to residual income?
Once you fill out the form on my website, I will tell you how I was able to recruit over 1000 paid members in a short amount of time. Although I have my favorite MLM’s, this is about you putting together a recruiting strategy so that you can be among the 5% that figure it out and succeed.
The truth of MLM is that if you can’t recruit, then you WILL fail, no matter which opportunity you join.
